Foundations and framing, designed to code and to budget

We design the parts of a building that hold it up: the slab, the walls that resist wind, and the lintels over openings. Every design is sealed by a Texas professional engineer.

Foundation design
We design conventional reinforced slabs and post-tensioned slab-on-ground foundations for residential and custom homes, modular and manufactured homes, and commercial and industrial buildings. Designs follow the soil report for the lot and the recognised design procedures for slabs on expansive soils.
  • Post-tensioned slab design, tendon layouts and stressing schedules
  • Conventional rebar slab and grade-beam design
  • Pier and beam foundations
Plot plan design
A plot plan places the house on the lot and shows how water will drain away from it. We set the house location against setbacks and easements, design the lot drainage and set the finished slab elevation, ready for the building permit.
Wind bracing design
For a city building permit, framing walls must be braced to resist wind. We design longitudinal and lateral bracing walls at every floor level, with cost-effective solutions for open plans with many windows and tall walls.
Lintel design
Masonry veneer over garage doors, large windows and entry doors needs a lintel sized to carry it. Our lintel designs are specific to each opening.
Foundation repair design
With more than 20 years of foundation repair design, we can help you restore a foundation to full strength and keep the house structurally sound. A repair design and monitoring program from an independent engineer can save you thousands of dollars on repairs you do not need.
Other structural work
Our principal has designed bridges, pedestrian bridges, retaining walls and culverts, and concrete, steel and wood buildings. Call us about your project.
How we work

From the soil report to the sealed drawing

Send us the soil report, the architectural plans and the lot information. We check the plans, design the foundation and framing elements, and deliver sealed drawings for permit and construction.

During construction we can inspect the reinforcement and post-tension cables before the pour and witness the cable stressing, so the slab is built the way it was designed. See structural inspections.
